Girl Improved’s smART of FILMMAKING

A Club for Learning Filmmaking Skills Using Your Smartphone

2016-2017

Imagine a world where girls of all shapes, colors and ages are represented equally and with respect in the media.

WHAT WAS THE smART of FILMMAKING CLUB ABOUT?

Each month, you are given a set of parameters to follow. Then you create a 2-3 minute piece that you bring to the club session. At the meeting, your content is screened and feedback is given by a panel of peers and sometimes pros. WAIT — Do you have a film camera? Nope. How about fancy editing software? Uh-uh. Any money? Ehh…right. Don’t worry. That won’t stop you from making and sharing your stories. Because we live in the day and age of the smArtPhone! Through the monthly feedback sessions, you are going to learn by doing: you will write, produce, and direct short, narrative films using what you DO have: SmartPhones (or tablets)!
