Get Involved with the Girl Improved Film & Television Fest
WHAT WE NEED
GIFT Fest needs Champions. We need people who want to champion the next generation of girl and enby storytellers. We need people who will champion their voices, give them a hand up, and encourage them to keep creating. We need people who want radical change in the industry.
POSITIONS
VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR
You are tasked with finding other Volunteers who want to dedicate their blood, sweat and tears to uplifting the next generation of girl and nonbinary voices. We’re gonna need a Selection Committee. And a Jury. And countless other people who you will think of as vital to the cause.
SPONSOR/PARTNER OUTREACH
You know film lovers and people interested in empowering girl and nonbinary youth come from all walks of life. You will actively seek out businesses and organizations that align with our mission. It will take a lot of digging. And emailing. And talking. And connection-building.
SUBMISSION OUTREACH
All those film schools and film programs for youth – they’re the ones training the next generation – and we have to reach them. You will make connections, forge partnerships, and help the film programs help their students learn how to submit to film festivals (because the younger ones haven’t learned how to do that, yet).
PRODUCTION COMPANY OUTREACH
We want to launch our emerging filmmakers into the industry. What better way than to get seen by producers? You will find production companies who are interested in girl/nonbinary voices and new stories and who are willing to give eyes/feedback to the festival winners.
MARKETING/PR
You are tasked with keeping our social media alive and well, and with sending out a regular newsletter, and with making friends with the press. Plus, writing those pesky press releases. It’s a time-consuming job and you might wonder why you’re not marketing your own stuff, but then you’ll remember that when we lift up one girl/enby voice, we lift up all.
AMBASSADORS
Do you attend a university, film school, or K-12 school? Heck, you’re in the trenches! You have the power to spread the word and let everyone know about GIFT Fest. It’s not as prestigious as being a nation’s Ambassador, but it’s close.
